The administrator can add/remove restrictions and remotely erase your device. There is even a note when you set up an Exchange account using the Apple Mail app that says:Īdding an Exchange account will allow the Exchange administrator to remotely manage your device. Microsoft 365 email access using Mac Mail requires MacOS X 10.14 (Mojave) or newer. If you set up Outlook using Apple Mail app and a remote wipe is performed, then the entire phone is erased. However, some features that exist in Outlook 2016 for Mac may not be. So in other words if you use the Outlook app, a remote wipe will only delete the account data in the Outlook app itself, nothing else on the phone is touched. If a native iOS or Android mail app is connected to Exchange and receives an Account Only Remote Wipe Device command from Exchange ActiveSync, only the native mail app's Exchange ActiveSync mail, calendar, and account data are wiped." However, if a native iOS or Android mail app is connected to Exchange and receives a Wipe Data command from Exchange ActiveSync, all data on the device will be wiped, including photos, personal files, and so on. The Account Only Remote Wipe Device command is therefore redundant and is not supported by Outlook for iOS or Android. The Outlook app will reset and all Outlook email, calendar, contacts, and file data will be removed, but no other data is wiped from the device. "Outlook for iOS and Outlook for Android support only the Wipe Data command, which wipes only data within Outlook.
